Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 1 July 2015: BRVM Equity markets closed lower today, market cap XOF 4.4 billion down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) BRVM closed the first day in the July trading session, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 279.08 to 278.27 points, a drop of 0.29%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.06% to 278.26 against 278.44 points previously. The equity market capitalization lost XOF 4.4 billion to close at XOF 6,866.24 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,870.64 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 576,972 compared to volume of 1. 979 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 316.647 million (against XOF 365.206 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 25 traded securities through 218 deals.
Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 562,320 traded shares (accounted for about 97.5 percent of the total volume) and SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 82.30 million contributing almost 26 percent of total turnover. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 40.94 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.16.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 25 traded securities there were 11 price gainers, 6 laggards and 8 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end at positive note. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 183,825 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL climbed by 7.50 percent to conclude at XOF 74,385. Likewise, TOTAL SENEGAL advanced by 3.68 percent to settle at XOF 28,000 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE added 3.53 percent with a closing price of XOF 29,500.
On the contrary, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 232,065 and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.49 percent to close at XOF 27,745. Similarly, MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 6.82 percent to close at XOF 4,100 and 6.42 percent to end at XOF 29,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 1.43 percent and transportation surged by 7.22 percent. On the contrary, industry and public utilities somersaulted by 0.41 percent and 0.01 percent respectively. Likewise, agriculture sector index fell by 1.62 percent and distribution sector index went down by 0.82 percent. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
